Re: @Sharke: Making bread ? Used bread machine today.

@SharkE : Similar stories from my grand parents. Very different and difficult times. We are spoiled. My  mother died in 1977.  Her wish list included a toaster oven, KitchenAid mixer and vita-mix blender. I worked at JCP during my senior year in high school and  gave her a big toaster oven that Christmas. Vocational rehabilitation would not let me work while in college to focus on studying to make good grades. She died three weeks after I graduated from college and I was not able to finish her wish list. First year of marriage, DH gave me a  KitchenAid mixer. Later  purchased the blender.  Southern Bee

Sad

Back then you could probably buy a Kitchen aid for 100 bucks.

What I paid for my SMEG was a week or 2 wages back then.

Re: @Sharke: Making bread ? Used bread machine today.

@SharkE : So true. The toaster oven was like $40, but with the JCP associate discount and the Labor Day special was like $17 and put it on layaway for 50 cents a week. Interesting on what things that I can remember the details. Southern Bee
