@hopi - All of Buddy's cakes are ridiculously expensive and have been for years; now that he's found fame on TV, he can charge whatever he likes. It's not price gouging—it's just the price a customer pays for buying a celebrity's cake.

If you can afford it.  Why not?  Can't take money with you when dead.

With the  pandemic what else is there to do but eat and drink?

I agree, that is an exorbitant price for that pretty cake. I have everything in my pantry needed to make it, as the ingredients are not exotic, so I think I'll make it a fun, rainy day project.😁

I actually went to Youtube and see many festive cakes that are  definite showstoppers similar to it-some much more ornate and labor intensive than others. Having said that, if price is not an issue, convenience is needed, and baking skills are lacking, then I think it's a good idea.😊

I guess there are people living in places where there are not excellent bakery shops.  There is an Italian bakery a town away from us that sells delicious pastries.  Each year we buy a huge platter of assorted Italian cookies for the family.  It is heavenly and worth every dime.
