Which dishes are better with sea salt and is it better for you health wise. I try to use seasonings but hubby still misses his salt.

I take a Thorne brand daily multi vitamin that contains iodine....so no worries about getting that. I'm sure many brands of multi's contain iodine.

I rarely add salt to anything I cook. When I do, it is Lite Salt or No Salt. The only thing I add salt to after cooking is eggs and potatoes.
Sometimes I roast a big cookie sheet of veggies...potatoes, turnips, onions, carrots, parsnips...whatever I have on hand. I do lightly sprinkle those with salt before cooking. I would think that a larger-grained salt would be delicious on those.
I just think that we use way too much salt in our cooking.

No doubt that's true. I'm guessing sea salt or iodized has such a minute amount of it that you'd probably need to eat a ton of it to receive any actual benefits. Salt is salt, there's not any less sodium in sea salt.
The people raving about the health benefits are the people selling it. I buy the pink because it's pretty, not because I think it will make me healthier. I buy iodized salt to cook, because it's not nearly as expensive.

La Baleine Fleur De Sel. I bought some at Cost Plus. Really good in our salt grinder at the table.

I prefer the taste of the regular white sea salt from penzies. Though admittedly I have not tried a lot of salt varieties. I only use the Mortons regular grocery store variety salt when baking because it is easier to measure exact amounts. Otherwise I use sea salt in my grinder for table use and other general cooking use.

As far as the iodine - the average american diet is going to contain enough ""regular salt"" that it is really a non-issue. So if that is your concern you need not worry.

I just use Himalayan - I googled it and that was enough for me to use it in everything, it measures well, I use it in cooking and baking and hey! Wonderful on popcorn - I air pop the popcorn, use olive oil and that salt to the batch for a healthy snack.
I get it at our Health Foods store not far from us. $5.00 plus for 16 oz. and that goes a long way. Unsulphured, no preservatives, sun dried, naturally sweet, and naturally grown! And I don't sell it, just buy it and love it!
