So 5lbs. of sausage rings for $134????   That is more than  $26 per pound!  I don't get it.

You are paying for the meat, the work involved turning it into sausage, keeping it frozen, packing materials, shipping crate, dry ice and fast delivery.

My family makes homemade sausage.  We used to sell it. ( we had a resturant)  It is quite the process.  The meat has to be cut from the bones, run through the grinder, mixed with spices, then put into casings and kept cold the whole time.

I am sure you can find it less expensive elsewhere.  Sometimes, everything but the oink is thrown into the sausage meat and the more expensive stuff usually uses pork shoulders and no snouts.

I  wouldn't pay that much for it, but in my area, I can buy really great sausage for much less or make it ourselves.  Some people don't have that choice available, or they have money and are willing to pay to have it delivered.

TV was on but I didn't pay attention.  On a  previous show "K" said his in-laws make sausage in Buffalo..... so this is a family thing.

This tid-bit doesn't justify the price....just thought I'd throw it in.  LOL

I figured it was a Zakarian product. I can't stand him and won't buy ANYTHING he hawks.I noticed there is NO nutrional information. I'm NOT surprised. I'm sure the fat content and sodium content is REALLY high - VERY UNHEALTHY.

I live in the Buffalo area...did he go any further and mention details?  I might be able to buy it locally, but googled and nothing came up.

Sausage at the Hungarian butcher in my neighborhood runs as high as $35 a pound.

I laughed when I saw that---typical Zakarian move--he is kind of a pompous dude--probably needs to restock his chop stick collection--the guy eats everything with chopsticks--saw one show where even  the other judges chided him for that!! Not a fan!!!

I hear it's made out of what's left of Rastelli's "special cows" that throw off 21 dollar a pound hamburgers...

Gotta do SOMETHING with all those leftover guts, hooves, tails, lips and brains!!!

Of course they ARE "special"...so there's that.

@RespectLife NO...just said Buffalo.  Perhaps a name on the packages he sells.  ...b/c food requires lots of information.

That's just an idea.......
