I had some Jimmy Dean breakfast, the kind in a roll in the fridge.  DD loves Belgian waffles and had gotten some kind of mix awhile ago. We decided to do breakfast for dinner last night.

I chalk our next idea to cabin fever from being cooped up.  Instead of making patties I broke the sausage up as it cooked, drained well on paper towels and after DD put batter in the waffle iron put on some sausage and close the lid.

Turns out it wasn't goofy after all.  Afterwards I found a lot of recipes for it online.

It was good, the waffles had a hint of sweet with the slightly salty sausage.

DD took one bite and announced "we need to do this again."  Not Earth shattering but a fun change.  Amazing what amuses you when you are bored senseless.

Our family favorite was always to sprinkle the batter with chopped pecans before baking.  Heavenly.

I love pecans with just about anything and I have a big bag in the freezer!

Thanks for the idea!

QVC's Belgium Waffles certainly didn't send me to the moon.

@fthuntI think the mix DD got was Krusteaz or something like that.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 , what did Petunia think of it? That's the critical taste test. Cat Wink

@noodleann  Petunia very, very rarely gets a taste of people food. Maybe a tiny piece of chicken now and then.

That doesn't stop her from trying,of course.  I swear the little beast is part dog.  If you have food she comes over and sits down in front of you and stares.

DD told her "I spend $42 dollars on a bag of your food, you're not getting mine."

And no, she didn't get any.

Sounds delicious. We love Krusteaz pancake and waffle mix.....easy and always turns out fluffy, light and has great taste. Breakfast for dinner is always good!
