No, the food stuff is first quality. They have signs explaining it (and you can read more on the TJ Maxx website).

For me, it's a way to try new things that look interesting for a bit less. I usually end up buying it from Amazon or directly from their website if it's good.

They also have the gourmet nut brand QVC sells (name escapes me now).

I've never had a problem with their food items, just check the sell by dates. I've never seen an expired item.

I've bought many gourmet food items at Home Goods and they've all been perfect. I've picked up jams, jellies, spices, David's Cookies, cooking oils, you name it. Items move so quickly in my HG, that they don't sit around long enough to get outdated.
