@Flatbush- If no vac. sealing system - wrap in plastic wrap, then in foil and then in zip loc bag. Keeps for a long time, no problems.

I always use Reynold's Freezer Paper, too. But I don't use any additional outer bag - just the freezer paper, secured with freezer tape. I've been known to keep meat in the freezer for 6 months or more and can honestly say that I've never found freezer burn on anything. But you have to be good at wrapping things. If you can't wrap a Christmas package neatly, you won't be able to wrap your meat well either.

It'll be fine. After you cook it, if there's some left over, freeze in freezer containers and use it up soon.
I don't understand saving meat for decades in the freezer in ANY kind of container.
And yes I know people have freezers....usually with more than a few packages of mystery meats way in the back or down at the bottom....
Believe it or not, some of us are organized and know exactly what is in our freezers......

I've never heard of anyone saving meat for decades. 🫤

I have used it to freeze things, but I dropped a Lock&Lock container while taking it out of the freezer, and it shattered like glass on the floor. I don't use it in the freezer anymore, just for pantry or fridge storage. I think the vacuum sealer works best, but you can also tightly wrap in butcher's paper and then place in a freezer Ziploc bag that you squeeze as much air out of as you can before sealinmg.
That's true but the tab breaks because it's frozen. Leave it in the fridge overnight to thaw and works fine. The only time I had a tab break is when it fell out of the freezer too.

Yes ma'am, I have, @Othereeeen. I've also learned how to recognize ridiculousness.

I buy meat on sale of course, wrap and freeze it, but I can guarantee you nothing in my freezer is older than 6 months. Usually freezer plastic wrap, then in a zip lock freezer bag. We eat meat probably 5 days a week, and eat out once or twice. Nothing can get that old. The same stuff goes on sale every 3-4 weeks.
Meat HAS gotten much more expensive but really don't buy THAT far in advance, regardless of the price. Two of us here, not feeding a family of 6 or 8.
