What I learned to do from my maternal Gramma was to use any kind of tough beef in soup--just make a pot of veggie beef soup out of it.

 

You'll be slow cooking it this way, too.

Yes, I've tenderized a tough piece of meat, even pork chops, by putting in a slow cooker.  Or I've done it on the stove top for a couple hours, much faster.  Today's meat is not the meat of my youth, as a 12 year old I was starting dinner for my working mom.  We frequently had pork chops and they always turned out great just by browning and cooking through.
