Re: Refrigerator recommendations

Do not buy a GE fridge or any GE appliance for that matter.  All of our brand new GE appliances in our new home have had issues.  The repair guy confirmned that GE was the worst and that his truck was FILLED with GE replacement parts.

He did give me the good brands to buy, but I wrote it down and it is at home.

Re: Refrigerator recommendations

I have had issues with my Samsung leaking water into the crisper drawers since I purchased it!  It already had to be fixed three times.  I, personally, like LG!

Re: Refrigerator recommendations

When I called an appliance repairman for my Kenmore Elite that was only 5 years old and could not be fixed (don't buy Kenmore), he told me to buy an LG and to make sure that the LG emblem was on the front of the fridge.  We did and are very happy with it.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Re: Refrigerator recommendations

Two years ago we bought an Amana with the bottom freezer.  I think they are owned by Whirlpool.  So is Kitchen Aid.   Kenmore used to be made by Whirlpool but some one told me LG is making the appliances for Kenmore now...I think it was a Sears associate. I have two Whilrpool factories in my general area.

@Puppy Lips

Our 3 year old GE is fritzing for the 3rd time....to call it a lemon is an insult to lemons!!!

my husband who is not handy read some stuff on the net and worked on it for quite a while with a hair dryer.....now it's kvetching like an old man instead of taking off like a helicopter, a very temporary improvement.

Re: Refrigerator recommendations

I have a ge french door. Do not get one of those. Biggest mistake we ever made. Repair man can't fix. There is a leak that turns to ice at bottom of fridge part. I have to deal with on a regular basis. It is beyond ridiculous.

I hate GE.

Re: Refrigerator recommendations

I don't like those freezer at the bottom types of refrigerators either.

I don't want to have to bend over and shuffle thru all that stuff and break my

back.

Just like with a stove and bend over overn I had a eye level oven put in under the microwave on the wall. Not bending over and peeking in a oven all the time either. then have to straighten up with a heavy skillet or pan.

Looking out for my back. LOL

Re: Refrigerator recommendations

Very disappointed in my Kenmore French door bottom freezer.  You can't just close a side of the French door. The other side will pop open from the vacuum. So you really have to check both sides every time.  Ok so not much of a big deal.  But what is, is the accumulation of ice under the bottom freezer inside the refrigerator.  It hampers the bottom freezer from fully freezing as the drawer is not fully engaged.  This opens about every 3 months and everything has to be pulled out and the ice has to be melted with hair dryer.  Terrible appliance.
