Refrigerator recommendations!

I currently have a Samsung French door with ice maker in door and bottom freezer. It was five years old in April 2014. It has crashed. Had a tech out and he said basically for what it would cost to repair, you might as well get a new one. There was no refrigeration in it at all. I called Samsung and ask them if they would give an extension on warranty since the warranty ran for five years and it was just April. Of course, they told me there was nothing they could do to help me. This frig was very expensive. My DH is an Air conditioning repair man. He took the frig apart, There is no leaks anywhere that he can see so he says he thinks its in the walls of the frig. I am pretty angry with Samsung right now. A frig should last longer than 5 years. Its just myself and DH so in clean perfect condition otherwise. What do you friends on here recommend for a good refrigerator.\

Thanks

Here's a thread I started a few weeks back about refrigerator preferences. Maybe some of the replies will help Good luck, sounds like you got a lemon. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Re: Refrigerator recommendations!

I'd be interested in this too. Just started looking around. Need to replace my Whirlpool side-by-side. I think I want to got with the French Door.

I saw a pretty good deal on Costco.com today for the Whirlpool 4 door French Door. It looks really, really nice. But...I am not sure about Whirlpool?

Obviously, Samsung is out, LOL. (not laughing at you, or your situation, just glad I read this so I can scratch that off my list).

Wow, thanks. I'll peek now. Soooo, what did you end up going with? Or are you still searching?

EDIT -

I just clicked the link. The page doesn't open. Can you please bump it up so I can find it on the front page? Thanks.

Re: Refrigerator recommendations!

Bumped up - thread was titled something like ""Refrigerator advice - side by side or bottom freezer?"".

Re: Refrigerator recommendations!

Check out LG.com and filter by ""highest rated""; there's some really cool (no pun intended) ones!

Re: Refrigerator recommendations!

Samsung seems to be very difficult to repair. My friend had a Samsung washer, repairman would not even touch it, had to buy new one, got LG. I recommend Whirlpool or Frigidaire.

Re: Refrigerator recommendations!

Thanks everyone! I am going to take a peek at the other thread and look at those comments also. Hate to have to get a new one this time of year. They are so expensive.

Re: Refrigerator recommendations!

I have a Samsung side by side and my only regret is the refrigerator side doesn't hold as much as the old plain refrigerator (with the freezer up top).

I would hate to think it isn't going to last the 18 years my other one did (which is still going in another house!)

I would write a letter to the Better Business Bureau and let Samsung know you're going to. Send them a copy of it first. You'd be surprised how they react to people taking them to task.
