Re: Question for tea drinkers

I drink Choice fair trade English Breakfast, Numi Jasmine green tea, and Tulsi rose tea. Although I love coffee, tea is better for my gi system.

Re: Question for tea drinkers

So many teas have "artificial flavorings", "spices" or "natural flavorings"...which is a cute way of saying MSG or a derivative. People switch to tea to be 'healthier', but the majority of teas are far, far from healthy.

Yesterday Dr. prescribed BP medication. I would prefer drinking tea. How much of this do you suggest. BP was 170 which I really don't consider high.

Sorry, I don't have numbers. I drink the equiv of 2 or 3 cups/day but I also eat very low salt. I tried many BP meds but couldn't find any that didn't cause side effects, so I promised my doctor I'd do everything I could to reduce my numbers. I do drink Hibiscus Tea EVERY SINGLE DAY. See what your doctor thinks.

Re: Question for tea drinkers

My basics are two large cups of English Breakfast tea in the morning, something fun in the afternoon (like Mango Peach), and Trader Joe's organic Jasmine green tea with dinner.

There's a lot of variation for that basic routine, sometimes Irish breakfast in the morning, or Lady Gray, other fun teas in the afternoon, but always the Jasmine for dinner.

I agree with this. I switched from coffee about a month ago because I was just drinking too much and my doctor said that was why I had to get up during the night to go to the bathroom.

I researched how to make my own organic teas so that is what I am doing. I went to Whole Foods and bought several bags of spices and brew my own. I currently make turmeric tea with a dash of cinnamon and a dash of cloves and use almond milk and it is called some kind of sunny delight - turmeric makes it yellow. I like the turmeric because it is an anti-inflammatory and seems to help my arthritis.

I also tried a fruit tea by slicing apples and pears and muddled grapes, steep in boiling water and strain for tea. Tea can be any kind of steeped flower, leaves, herbs, or spices and if you buy them fresh, you can make your own. More work, but much better than the bags you buy. The bag of turmeric I bought was 57 cents and I have made 2 cups a day for almost 3 weeks now and still have a lot left.

Justjules, if you like Earl Grey, Stash makes an Earl Grey with Double Bergamot. My mother loves that. It can be hard to find, but you can order it from Amazon. I prefer Darjeeling...or any black tea.

Of course, I love chai...not from the box. I like the type you can get at Starbucks. I might try the vanilla black tea you mentioned. What I do then is add some International Delight Cold Stone liquid creamer...awesome!

BTW, what brand is the vanilla black tea? Thanks!

Hi Madisson, the Earl Grey tea I am currently drinking is by Stash, I like their teas but haven't tried the double bergamot.

The vanilla chai tea is by Bigelow, it's really very good. I think Stash makes a chai tea as well.

I appreciate everyone responding about their tea preferences, it's nice to learn new things and hear how others like their tea. Several tea brands have been mentioned that I had not heard of and it makes me curious to try them. It's always good to expand your taste bud horizons. Smile

Thanks, JustJules! I'll give the Bigelow vanilla chai a try. I used to drink their Lemon Lift a lot...very good also. BTW, we found Stash Double Bergamot Earl Grey tea at Walmart yesterday.

I LOVE this idea of making it yourself!! I buy dried hibiscus flowers in the Mexican section of a 99cent store. So pretty in color!

I hesitate to mention since you're SOOO ahead of the curve, but....double check the ingredients on the almond milk. Greater than zero chance there's 'natural flavoring' or actual cane sugar. How 'bout unsweetened soy milk...with nothing but soybeans & water? You have some ideas I'm going to try this afternoon! Smiley Happy

Re: Question for tea drinkers

actually I can't take soy in anything. But I do buy the toasted coconut/almond milk (organic) at WF, so I think I'm good to go there. I also switched from butter/margarine to Earth Balance organic coconut spread. Tastes yummy.

Re: Question for tea drinkers

I prefer black teas like Assam or Ceylon. I mostly drink loose tea and I do not care for fruity blends.
