I agree with this too. I love gingerbread but don't think chocolate goes that well with it. They sort of compete. If you want to put something on , some white glaze on the back or dipped in white icing would be nice!

But yours do look very good and I would gladly eat them!

They look great and I bet they taste delicious!  Gingerbread and ginger cookies of any kind are one of my very favorites.

My reply is too late.  This is a glaze I use on gingerbread cookies.  It's pretty easy to do and it is delicious.

I see I'm too late...I've used a maple brown butter icing. It's soo tasty!

I would try adding a little pumpkin pie mix to white icing of any kind or vanilla glaze.

To me chocolate in any form does not pair well with gingerbread. I agree with some other people that vanilla is the best pairing.

I guess it depends on people's experience with gingerbread—my family has a strong German background on one side, and pairing chocolate with gingerbread is extremely popular in that culture. And although it is much more common around the holidays, this is definitely the type of treat that we don't just save for once a year!
