Re: Question about Pinterest?

If I find a recipe I like on pinterest, and it is something I want to print, I click on it to find the original posted recipe. When I click on the yummy looking photo it just takes me to the pinterest post. This is the post that the person posted to his/her pinterest account. Then I click on the photo again. This may take you to the original post of the recipe. This may be a website or a blog where the recipe was posted. If I get to another pinterest account, I may have to click again on the photo to get to the original post of the recipe. I think many people post a recipe from another pinterest account instead of the original website, so it may take more than one click to get to the original. I hope this makes sense.

After I get to the original post of the recipe I can pin it to my pinterest account. If I want to print the recipe, I copy & paste the recipe to a word document and save it to my computer in the correct recipe folder, such as "desserts". Then I print it from there. So, I have a paper copy, I have a copy in my computer recipe file, and I have it pinned in my recipe file on pinterest.

If you don't care to save a file to your computer, just skip that step. Highlight the recipe, right click on the highlighted portion and then click on print.

Or, if you want to skip printing altogether, just get to the original post of the recipe and save it to your pinterest account. That way you can easily find it again when you want to make the recipe. And, you are saving paper. This is also good if you want to try it before you want to save it on your computer or print it out.

You can practice a little to get comfortable and know how it works. In the search bar on pinterest type in a recipe you want to make. Such as baked oatmeal. Scroll down until you see something you are interested in. Such as Baked Apple Oatmeal. I clicked on the photo and it took me to the pinterest post. This says it was found on betty crocker. I click on it again and it takes me to the original post on bettycrocker.com. So I can copy the recipe from there, print it from there, or pin it to my pinterest account to find later.

Hope this helps!

Re: Question about Pinterest?

I get some good recipes from Pinterest, but you have to be sure you get to the original site.

I usually repin to my recipe board where I can find them easily. I usually don't print them and just look at the screen.

First repin to your board

then be sure the site is the correct when to print from

Re: Question about Pinterest?

luvsbulldogs,

I am so very glad you have received excellent replies about how to use Pinterest. I was going to take you step by step, but at the time I was on my Kindle, which does not let me post here.

When I read that you had "deactivated" your account, I really wanted to reply, since I LOVE Pinterest. I "follow" a lot of sites (Kraft, All Recipes, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, to name a few) that I used to visit. The sites that I follow will automatically come up on the Pinterst page. I follow certain blogs I have come to like, such as Six Sisters and Closet Cooking, among others.

Pinterest is now the first place I search for recipes. I was also a cookbook collector and that has cut down almost completely, which is a good thing for me since my shelves are full and I could never even use all the cookbooks I have now!

Pinterest has also proven good for the environment as I never print recipes anymore, so I am saving paper!

On the Pinterest homepage I click on the little arrow to the right of search and just go to the food and drink category (or go to any category you're interested in). If I see something I like, I click on it, select one of my boards and pin it. If I want to see the recipe I click the picture again to read the recipe and pin it (or you could print it, if you want).

Pinterest has gotten me so organized it is unbelievable! Here are some of the boards I have: Appetizers, Breakfast, Cookies, Desserts, Entrees, Crockpot, Pasta Dishes, Potato Dishes, Vegetables, Salads, Sides, Soups, Pork and Chicken. I have boards by occasion to: Christmas, Fourth of July, Father's Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Superbowl. I have a board for crafts and also shopping and gift ideas.

I hope you give Pinterest another try! It is fantastic! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Thanks everyone. After trying several times I received a notice that I needed to download an update to Java and so I did. It totally messed up my computer and loaded several things that I did not want on my computer. I had to remove them all. I decided that it was not worth it so I deactivated my account to Pinterest. Thanks again.

I'm sorry that happened to you. Downloading software updates from pop-ups isn't a good idea. Malicious people have created pop-ups that look identical to the genuine ones. Any time you see those, go to the official website instead and update from there.

btw: In general, using Java (important, Java is not the same as JavaScript) is unnecessary and can invite problems. I keep Java disabled on my Mac and on all browsers.

Hi dooBdoo........thank you so much for your post. While in Pinterest I could not see anything because the notice kept coming up to update. I am not sure if it was Java or Java Script but think it may have been Java. I have Java on my computer already. What is the difference between Java and Java Script and which one should I be using? I did download Java from the Official Website but thanks for the info on not loading from just a website that is not the official site.
