I just had to get all new cookware because I am now only using induction cooking.  Got a beautiful Circulon Symmetry set, unfortunately I needed a few small pots with lids.  So I ordered a 1 quart and 2 1.5 quart pots with lids.  These new pots all have a round vent in the lid which I find very annoying because any liquid is evaporated in a few minutes.  Making rice for one or two people is impossible.

Why is this happening?  I can see having a vent in some lids but in all of them?  Can't find any small pots that are induction ready locally.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

That IS a pain!  Either they have those holes in the lid or they have vent things in the side of the pan so the lid doesn't seal it up.

I'm not one for 'sets' of pans, so this probably helps.   Maybe if there is a certain size of pan you would use most that needs to have a tight-fitting pan, like for making rice and such, you can just find ONE pot to buy for that purpose.

I can see those hole-vent things in a big stock pot but it just doesn't make sense with the smaller pans.

@CLEM*****The holes are for pouring off liquid.  If rice is the problem, I guess you'll just have to get a small pot just for rice or completely wrap the lid in aluminum foil.  They first started using holes for pasta pans and had the hole in the side of lip of the lid.  It does seem that you could get easily burned with steam coming out of all your pot lids if you reached over them to adjust the heat.
