I made a large batch of beef soup day before yesterday because it's suppose to be really cold this weekend with snow tomorrow.
I used my CE 8 qt oval pressure cooker & it would not get under pressure. DH has already repaired this cooker twice. Doubt he can fix it again since you cannot buy parts.
Good thing I have 2 - 6 qt pressure cookers. LOL!!! I had to put the soup in them to cook. Nothing like having to wash 3 pressure cookers.

I had the same thing happen to me. Mine was a 4 qt ce pressure cooker. Just wouldn't pressure anymore. Got another one, the power pressure cooker xl 10 qt I think. I did have to replace the gasket one time because it wouldn't pressure up. The gasket was not pliable anymore, so it worked great to change it. I've had this one for years and the ce one went out after about 6 months.

@Renata22 I can see buying one of those 10 qt pressure cookers. If I don't buy a larger one I will have to use the 2 I have now at the same time in order to make a really large batch or use 1 & make a smaller batch. I prefer to make larger with things that freeze well.
I have never tried a stove top pressure cooker & thought about one of those but not sure.

I just bought my first pressure cooker- 5 qt Wolfgang Puck from hsn. It has many terrific reviews and was a great price [with free shipping yet!]. I love my slow cooker, I never tried a pressure cooker before though. Can you give me some tips & tricks?

You will love your new PC. There are tons of recipes for it. Enjoy.

I have the same 8 qt. Technique (CE) oval pressure cooker - I've had it a long time and and it is still going strong. I'm sure at some point it will stop working and I will have to look for something else.
Several times I have requested in the Suggestion Box for QVC to offer an oval pc in either 6 or 8 qt. but it has fallen on deaf ears.
I would love the recipe for the beef soup - would you post it?
Thanks.

@Ibby114 I hope you love your PC as much as I love mine . . . one of the favorite sites to get great tips, techniques and recipes is:
http://www.hippressurecooking.com/
I would also search through YouTube . . . I was never a big visitor of the site until I discovered cooking videos and now I am on there all the time . . . ![]()

@momtochloe I love to check at You Tube before I purchase anything. Of course you have the commercial sites , but you cannot beat the personal reviews from the everyday Jack & Jill. It can be tedious to go through some but I have always found it an aid in deciding.

@WORKING GAL Here is the recipe I use. I mix flour, salt, pepper to shake the meat in to brown before adding the rest. I don't know how many potatoes I cut up. I put them in a large tupperware measuring cup I have. I generally end up with about 7 cups. I always made this in the 8 qt pressure cooker so it will not all fit in 1 - 6 qt pressure cooker.
I doubt Q will ever sell a heavy duty pressure cooker like the oval 8 qt. People would not want to pay the price for it.
3 lbs stew meat
7 cups new red potatoes, cut into chunks
1 bag carrot chips
3-4 stalks celery, diced
1 onion, quartered,
1 bay leaf
add broth to fill line
you can also use some red wine
cook 25 mins
