@Mom2Dogs:  This 7-layer salad is one of my favorites having made it an awful lot.  My experience is that is so much better if you make it the day before you serve it, combining all of the ingredients where they "meld" together.  I have made it the day of an event but like it so much better when made the day before.

@Mom2DogsDoes the lettuce stay crisp please?  DH's mother naver made those, and he just can't "get into them" unfortunately.  He will eat my pasta salad, but the binders are ranch, dill, and lemon and it was from a wonderful tearoom here.

@ECBG....you cannot let this salad sit for days or it will get soggy.

I would say 3-4 days max.   I have tried lifting one edge of the pan so if it gets runny the juices will go to one corner.  I keep it covered really well and this last time I used my temptations 9x13...it was all gone by day 4 and still tasted fairly fresh...

Wish my dh would eat pasta salad...I never make it beause he won't eat it.

Since I'm the only one that eats salad around here, I frequent our market's salad bar a lot.  I have noticed that if I save it overnight the veggies do look wilted and/or dry.

I prepare things like that up to two days ahead, and store in lock and lock, but make sure the continer is small and full of food, so as to allow less air sitting in there.
