Has anyone had this dish, and your thoughts on it, I seen it

on a restaurant board for one of the specials for the day.

TIA

I just tried this French dish in Quebec last fall.   While it was very tasty, it is full of calories and rich in fat.   But worth it for sure once in a blue moon Smiley Happy   Enjoy.

I've indulged in this. Yummy. Consider it a once a year ( or even less frequently) treat very much against any doctor's orders.  If you have any affinity for the lifesaving intervention of a cardiologist, this dish is for you.

A French Canadian menu item worth knowing about.
(French fries with cheese curds and gravy; it's very filling and delicious.)

Since we are a border town w/ Canada, YES, but it crept into our area years ago in all sorts of forms.....with all styles of potatoes!

You don't have to use FF that are fried...my fav way is Weg steamable pots cut and diced like Home Fries, cheese curds and homemade gravy.  Eliminating Fried pots reduces the fat and calories.

It is no more fattening than any other potato dish you may eat if you don't use fried pots.

That may get you in trouble in Canada though!   LOL

The traditional is French Fries, but all our taverns have run with their own varieties and styles.

I've seen it, but I would never set it. It's very unhealthy and loaded with fat.

@YouGoGirl1 - I have had it, and I really like it! It's basically French Fries covered in gravy, but it's SO good!

DH and I just had Irish Poutine at one of our favorite restaurants. DH wanted it; I wasn't too sure. They made it with crispy fries, cheddar cheese curds, sliced Irish bangers, and a homemade Guinness gravy. It was one of the tastiest foods I've ever had!  Smiley Happy

I had to have it when I was in Vancouver - very rich but I had to try along with Tim Horton Coffee (and a donut or 2)

Yes and delicious.  As a calorie splurge once in great while, it hits the right notes for me.
