It's very popular mostly in SE Asia and in areas here in the US where certain SE Asians live. I have friends from that group. I've seen them eat it.

I have been to SE Asia... China, VietNam, Thailand and Cambodia.  I have seen it at the markets, but never tried it.

I have a nephew who lives in Thailand and is married to a beautiful Thai girl and they have two children.  I'll have to ask my brother who visits them several times a year if he has ever eaten it.  He will eat almost anything.

Not popular here.....but wanted to try durian fruit.  I bought some freeze dried on Amazon.  It was good to me.  But people say that the smell of fresh durian is terrible 🤷🏻‍♀️  They won't allow it on trains in Malaysia or Singapore.
