Re: Popular Foods You've Never Tried

Lobster because I have no desire to try it. I don't know how I managed to never encounter it. Caviar sounds gross to me. Frog legs, snails, squirrel - never tried. I don't know how common any of those are. On a side note, I love pickles beets, but the pickled eggs are horrible. Pickling just doesn't go with eggs to my tastebuds.

Re: Popular Foods You've Never Tried

I will try just about anything but chicken feet and pigs feet both gross me out. I will eat liver and tongue but not brain, kidney or thymus glands (my mother loved them).

I don't eat fast food so there are many items in that category I have not tried.

PS: I also don't like chicken gizzards and hearts but love chicken liver.

I may have to try the pickled eggs (I'll bet my husband would like them). Gross, we had canned sliced beets when I was a child and they revolted me. Just thinking about them gags me.

I was buying suet for birds at the store and the nice lady ahead of me asked if it were some "loaf" her grandma used to make, and spread on bread (i thought, like scrapple - she said similar). I could see if you farmed and gardened and couldn't waste, you would use "parts".

Never tasted Brussel sprouts. The smell alone makes me sick.

I have never had a big mac. Yuck. A greasy burger with 1000 island dressing on mattress bread.

Cooked carrots and pale, overcooked peas - barf material.

We grate or shred brussels sprouts and sauté them in just a tiny bit of olive oil and butter until they start to brown (sometimes we brown them then add a tiny bit of water and put the lid on and steam them a bit). I put soy sauce on them too, and may include a bit of chopped or sliced onion with them. They don't have that HORRIBLE smell that way! You might try it!

Y'all are invited to lunch: FRIED chicken livers with gravy, pickled eggs, beets, and sautéd brussels sprouts, and grits! Who's in? Sounds really good to me! LOL!!

My post would be too long if I listed all the foods I won't try. Humus, big Mac, Turkey burgers, spam, sausage, animal organs and such, oysters.

Escargot. I love shellfish, so not sure why I haven't braved escargot in shells yet, but I haven't. I hear they're delicious, and I'd probably like them........but there's just something about eating snails......

I haven't tried picked eggs, either. They just aren't something I've encountered a lot here in the south. But I love pickles and pickled foods, so I'd probably enjoy them.

I don't like anything pickled except for pickles!
