Can you make popcorn in the Air Fryer?

I read on Facebook that some people have tried. One person put the kernals in a wire basket thing-it didn't work. I don't know how a microwave popcorn bag would work. I use a Nordic ware popcorn bowl and kernals in the microwave.

It is not made to pop popcorn.  Why people keep trying to do it and come up with hacks for it is beyond me.

If you have microwave popcorn bags, use a microwave.  Better yet, a couple of tablespoons of oil and some popcorn kernels can be poppped in a regular pan on the stove in a matter of minutes.  It's cheaper than a microwave (or dedicated popper), tastes better than a microwave, and it doesnt take that much longer than a microwave.

Popcorn in an air fryer?   Common sense should answer that question.

I would not attempt that. I can see the popcorn popping all over inside getting stuck up in the heating element & causing a fire. It's not meant to cook things in oil. You do have to use some oil to toss or spritz certain foods while Air Frying to get them crisp but not dry.
