Sorry if my topic has been discussed recently. I have been taking care of my 14 year old elderly dog and she requires a lot of my time. I have been wondering why, of all the books they supposedly sold of Ree Drummunds New Frontier cookbook, there has only been 6 reviews for a very long time (one being mine.) I was very disappointed in it and even though it was a costly mistake in paying shipping, I returned it. I have all of her others and enjoy them very much. Her style seems to be changing to fad type cooking or something. Anyway, not what my husband will eat. He likes basic food like her other books. Any thoughts on why QVC is not posting more reviews or did they really not sell many. I am also dropping her magazine as the ads are high end clothing, jewelry, etc. and the recipes in it have also taken a different avenue. Guess she is not the good ole' pioneer woman I fell in love with in the beginning. Success has changed her like so many that have started out.

She's a top selling writer so I assume she has sold lots of books. But, maybe there were people who just didn't write a review for
whatever reason.

I think these food network stars have to constantly reinvent the wheel to stay relevant. Unfortunately some of the recipes are not proven, and in fact a few of her recipes are simply just an attempt to sell herself, her show, and her books. She is not alone it happens with all of them. I know people have different tastes, but some of the recipes are not appetizing at all, and just an attempt to convince viewers they should love them.
I was watching Giata's ThanksGiving show this morning and she put Parmesan cheese in the pie crust. Never heard of it, and definitely would not want anyone messing with my sweet desert like that. Her guests were all trying to guess what was different, so you know they never had it before either.

Unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but I've never liked any of her recipes.

@GenXmuse , I totally agree, she adds things that don't seem to belong in the recipe, and always adds sugar. I know she is popular but her food never appealed to me.

Well, if you are a cook and you returned it, what does that say about the rest of us who have never bought a cookbook in our lives?
I do subscribe to Town & Country Magazine and I LOVE all the high end jewelry, clothing, watch and travel ads!
I am a city girl, but definitely NOT a pioneer woman.
So sorry about your dog. Pets are never with us long enough and deserve all our love (dogs, cats and birds in my home)!

She has always had a mixed message. She started out selling that she was a "city girl" (Bartlesville OK raised--city--NOT) who married a simple ranch hand.
The Drummonds are millionaires and some of the biggest land holders in the US. ANYONE living in that part of the world, like where she grew up, is very familiar with the Drummonds and their wealth and land holdings, etc.
The Drummonds are pretty much Oklahoma folks and I don't imagine they have any aspirations of being "city" folk even though they have a ton of money.
What is she? I have no idea except she is into any money making thing she can latch onto. Her recipes at least in the beginning were mostly from old paperback cookbooks from area churches and organizations. Old time Oklahoma cooking.
Her last book looks sort of Paula Deen to me--LOTS of pictures of her and family. So more celebrity oriented than food oriented. I saw it at Costco and flipped through.

@nomar @So sorry to hear about your sweet pup being sick. I'm in the same boat. My sweet 15 year old Miniature Schnauzer is also having major health issues that requires all of my attention and time. So, while he sleeps, I'm cuddled on the couch with him, looking at recipes galore. I've never purchased the Pioneer Woman cookbooks...many of the recipes are on Pinterest....and I do agree that many of the Food Network celebs seem to always be trying to reinvent the wheel. I enjoy her show because she seems to really enjoy cooking and so do I. Sending a big hug to you and your sweet doggie.❤️
