Been using the Yorktown pattern for years, and yesterday baked 5 potatoes in the microwave for 15 minutes. When I took them out, they entire edge of the plate was darkly cracked. It looked like one of the faux 'cracked' finishes. Plate didn't break, but should I be ready for this to happen all the time now? I've used these plates forever in the microwave. Was it because it's old?? I'd love to hear your stories, if you have any, about this happening. thanks you.

I wouldn't ever put dinnerware in the microwave longer than enough time to warm up some pre-cooked item. You were actually cooking. I use a paper plate or a tempered glass pie plate for things like this. Perhaps you can replace your plate on Ebay or a local thrift store.

If the plate was hot, and not just the potatoes, then you had it in for too long.......ALSO.........Pfaltzgraff used to be made in the USA, now made in China.....Look at the bottom of your plate.......All of mine is USA made, but I have never placed it in the microwave for such a long period of time either....
Longaberger is looking to have Pfaltzgraff made back in the USA again........![]()

Thank you, ladies. I've had mine for many many years. Just checked and they're all USA. It's always made me nervous using it that long for the potatoes (only thing I actually cook in the micro). I've been thinking of replacing some pieces and was going to look on ebay. I think some of the pieces are. at lease, 40 years old!! I have a lovely cinnamon colored pie plate (somewhere,,,I've moved) and have thought of using that just for the potatoes. I'll search til I find it, and once again, thanks, ladies
