I have the small WP rice cooker, which came with a 3/4 cup measuring cup like the perfect cooker does.  I also have the rice cooker cookbook by Marian Getz which says a standard measuring cup can be used for rice.  I follow Marian's directions and use standard measurements.

Over and over on the Q&As for the Perfect Cooker it is stressed to used the accompanying measuring cup (Wolf also stressed using the accompanying cup for his unit).

Does anyone know of a reason I could not follow Marian's recipes and use standard measurements in the Perfect Cooker?

 I don't always use the measuring cup that came with my 6 cup Aroma rice cooker. I think the key is to use equal amounts of water to rice ratio. A standard cup of rice, a cup of water.  I've found a lot of my recipes from youtube. I follow  a  a channel called Third Street Kitchen. She uses the WP rice cooker, so I have adapted some of her recipes to use in mine.  I also take some of my recipes from Eric Theiss's Perfect Cooker website.

I asked Meredith that question on her Facebook page.  She said it's fine to use standard measurements.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I haven't received mine yet but am so looking forward to it being delivered.

The reassurance that I can use standard measurements made my day.  I was dreading the thought of converting rice cooker and slow cooker recipes.

Now if I could just master converting slow cooker to pressure cooker time and pressure cooker to slow cooker time I'd never have to wash more than one pot/pan per meal.

Marp, with my Perfect Cooker, for medium grain white rice I use 3/4 cup (6 oz) rice and 1 cup (8 oz ) water..sounds weid, but it works!

@Mothertrucker, not weird at all.  I usually use long grain white rice and like it a bit softer than what I get using Marian's instructions so I also add a bit more water.  Perfect for me rice.

@Bigbear52  I have enjoyed Third Street Kitchen very much, too.  I cook pasta in my WP mini rice cooker like she does, and have never had a problem.  I like how she adapts the recipes or demonstrations that WP & Marian have done.  Too bad she doesn't post more frequently.  But as we all know, life has a way of keeping us from doing some things, as hectic as life can get.  :-)  I'd love to see her do some recipes with the Perfect Cooker, since it's bigger; for rice cookers, I've only seen her use the smaller WP.

@Bigbear52

I do the same, Bigbear52, except when cooking basmati brown rice I add an extra 1/2c with whichever "cup' I'm using 'cause since it cooks until the water runs out, I find the rice softer.  Have you cooked the sticky rice (kind used for sushi?  Was wondering if extra water would be needed for that.

No, I'm usually just a brown, or white rice, I did do a box of rice Zatarain's  jambalaya rice, I nwas making jambalaya and the seasonings that came wit the rice were perfect. I added a little extra creole seasoning, but not much. 13047747_1330288130321790_4588987312167484022_o.jpg

Just so you know, @Marp ,  the 3/4 cup measure represents the Japanese traditional rice measuring cup.  You can use standard cups at 3/4 cup measure and it will equate. HTH'sWoman Happy
