Hi, winocat. I didn't know whether you'd be checking the Vitamix thread again, so I hope you see this.
After doing a bit of research, I canceled my QVC order for the TSV and bought a Vitamix CIA Professional at BBB. It's price is $498, but with a 20% off coupon, I ended up paying only $438, including tax. That is $38 more than I would have paid for the TSV, but -- it has the larger container, the same design as the VM 5200 (soft grip handles and knobs), and a 7-year warranty instead of five. And very important to me: I know that I can return it easily at any time in the future if I choose to.
It's virtuallly identical to VM's 2500, with the only difference being the color choices and the cookbooks. It comes in black, ruby, and my choice -- platinum. And the cookbooks look more appealing to me than the one that comes with the 2500.
We made a carrot ginger soup this afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I also realized that the larger container is a better option. Since even the smaller one wouldn't have fit under our cabinets, I figured this is the way to go.
Anyway, thanks so much for all your help and advice.
