After eggs are cool, crack the shell in lots of places on counter. Place it in a cup of cold water (enough to cover entire egg) for a minute or so. The water gets under the shell & loosens it all over. Take egg out & start peeling. The peel should easily come off.

I'll definitely try it. Thank you!

The OP is right! I immediately just pour out the hot water and pour cold (very cold) water over the just cooked eggs. It causes the egg inside of the shell to shrink slightly, making it super easy to peel. Peel immediately. The shell will slide right off of the egg!

I am going to have to try this method as I usually end up so frustrated trying to peel them and having them look nice on the exterior. I even had gotten to the point of buying the already peeled eggs at the grocery store. You think eggs have gone up in price buying them already done is even more so.
Thanks for the tip!

OMG I'm going to try this. I'm the most incompetent egg peeler ever ![]()
I've tried soaking them in cold water, but the idea of getting the water in after the egg is cracked makes tons of sense ![]()

The secret is -----Do not use fresh eggs. Let eggs in fridge at least 2 weeks after you buy them. You won't need to worry about any of that.

@Sassy7356 I agree with you! Not much frustrates me but I've felt like pulling my hair out on several occasions!! 😀

Yup, the trick is to use slightly old eggs. No fancy things you have to do, just crack open and enjoy!

I do it a little different. After eggs are cooked I pour off the hot water and run cold water over them until they cool. I then pour the water out and put lid on pan and shake making little cracks in eggs. Fill again with cold water and let sit for 10-20 minutes and peel. Sounds complicated but is really quick.
