Re: PARCHMENT PAPER vs. WAX PAPER - THE SAME?

I like wax paper for a few things, like heating in MW or using it underneath when I tenderize meat.  I use parchment to line trays in the oven.  No wax there.  As it says, it is wax and will melt.

I was brought up on Cut Rite wax paper.  I have tried other brands, but not the same as good ole CR.    Kroger carries it.  Parchment paper was not around years ago.

Re: PARCHMENT PAPER vs. WAX PAPER - THE SAME?

I'm not too happy with Cut-Rite these days. much thinner and wimpier than it used to be. We always use it for samwiches and I like the old-school that was hefty.

Parchment I try to buy the Made In France version. Someone here purchased a MAde IN China brand which I do not like to use.

I use Parchment a lot for my salmon becuase I pull it out of the oven or grill before it gets too done.  Parchment keeps it firm while it continues to cook, off heat.

If you put wax paper in the oven, you'll soon notice the difference. I ruined some salmon that way.

I can't even remember when I last used wax paper, but I don't have a microwave.  I do use parchment paper in the oven.

Wow, I'm impressed.  I couldn't do what I need to do in the kitchen without a microwave.

You have had one in the past, right?

I finally used up the roll of wax paper that I've had for, oh, about 10 years, lol.  Haven't felt the need to buy another roll.

I use parchment paper from Costco:  Kirkland Signature PaperChef Culinary Parchment, made in France, oven safe to 425 degrees F.

An estimated 700,000 people around the world, 400,000 of them children, have died so far due to the discontinuation of the USAID program.

@Tinkrbl44  Nope.  Never had a microwave.  But I do have a toaster oven and use that often.

I use both but not wax paper in oven or air fryer.  I use it to put a layer between cookies when I freeze them.  That sort of thing.

Re: PARCHMENT PAPER vs. WAX PAPER - THE SAME?

i use parchment paper far more now than wax paper. i think the wax paper in my dispenser is probably 3 or 4 years old now. parchment paper is great for air frying, sheet pan dinners, baking bacon in the oven, baking, the microwave, and more.
