Oct. 2 Today is NATIONAL FRIED SCALLOPS DAY

I remember going with my grandfather out in his skiff during low tide to dig clams and scallops. We'd bring them back and he'd open them and make clam fritters and fried scallops. Can't get any fresher than that.

Love fried scallops. Had them Saturday night.

Love scallops - but at $16.95/lb, they don't appear on my menu anymore!

Love seafood in general but scallops are one of my favorites. That sounds good for dinner and I haven't had any for awhile. Will have to check at the store today and see if they have any *fingers crossed*

How tragic!!!{#emotions_dlg.ohmy} I would never think of breading and then frying those delicate, delicious little creatures! Scallops are meant to be gently sauteed. Not to become chewy erasers!

Oh, yum, I love fried scallops but really can't get them around here anywhere... unless my dear hubby fries them up! And, as someone else said, they are so expensive, I find it hard to fry something that expensive!

Sauteed scallops are delicious and my preferred way to cook them, but fried scallops are yummy too. They aren't chewy if cooked properly. A platter of fried clams, scallops and shrimp.... mmmm mmm!!! {#emotions_dlg.wub}

My mother cooked scallops and prawns in her old deep fat fryer. They were the best. Batter nicely browned on the outside, scallops and prawns tender and juicy on the inside. Prices were cheaper then, still a little pricey, and we ate and ate.
