Re: Nostalgic Mixing Bowls

I remember Pyrex..  They do hold up.  I did hear a youtuber say that the pyrex now is different.  Only the ones with all Caps for PYREX, are the vintage ones.  The ones now are Pryex.  I never would have noticed this.

I have the green and red one.  Bought them at a garage sale over 30 years ago for 50 cents each.  Still use them several times a week.

@On It  That is the exact set of Pyrex bowls that my mother had.

The big yellow one was for popcorn or potato salad.

I remember her making jello in the small one.

I still have my Pyrex set from the 60's. The bowls are white with the turquoise Butterprint pattern. The design is Amish farmers, roosters, cornstalks and sheaves of wheat.

The large bowl is still our popcorn or potato salad bowl.

I love my Pyrex.

I was just thinking how well these bowls would match my Fiesta dishes.

I'm sure my mom had them because they look so familiar.

While I don't have these, there's no shortage of them at local antique shops. I can't tell you how often I've picked them up and admired them. And they've been complete sets like this, too, with no chips or scratches. Often, adult children don't know how valuable these kitchen items are--or don't care, especially if they're clearing an estate. I think they're beautiful and practical.

The pain they have cost us, the evils that never happened.

I have my mom's small blue one...I always make my tuna salad in that one...I don't know how that started, lol, but it stuck.

And I have also from her set, the big Yellow one...we used that a lot for potato salad last summer.

Don't know what happened to her red/green ones.

I love old Pyrex and I also have a lot of pieces of her vintage Corningware. You can't beat both of them.

I have a set of these. I don't use them anymore but I did when the kids were at home.  My DD picks these up occasionally at Savers

My set was all yellow. One large one left. Great gift for Mother's Day back then I suppose. Mine were a shower gift if I remember right.
