I'm interested in the vitamix TSV today and would like to purchase the dry container as well. I know with past TSV's they've offered the dry container for $50. I can't find that deal anywhere today and a wondering why they're not doing it again. Anyone know?
Also, why does QVC only offer a 5-year warranty vs. Vitamix's standard 7-year warranty?
Both of these things are making me hesitant to jump on the TSV today.

I saw the dry container featured at the bottom of the Vitamin TSV page last night but it's not there now. Maybe they sold out. I didn't notice the price.

on the vitamix website they offer some items with a 5 year warranty and some items with a 7 year warranty.

Unless you are going to grind really hard grains, there really isn't much the regular container can't handle that I have found. I have ground some grains in my regular container just fine. The only one I had a hard time with was corn, so I had to switch to the dry container.

Unless you are grinding grains frequently, the dry container is a waste of money. The wet container will grind brains (although the container may get scratched, it will not hamper performance).
As far as the warranty, this is the VM model. The same model has the same warranty on the VM site. If you want a 7 year warrant, go for another model.
I have owned a VM for 23 years, used the dry container exactly twice, and I have never needed any service despite regular, daily use.

Do we think this will be a highlight on tonight's The Walking Dead?

Thanks for the replies!
KYToby, I'm confused. The ones on the VW website that come with only a 5-year warranty are the refurbished ones. Are you saying that QVC is selling refurbished ones and not disclosing that fact? I thought the QVC ones were breand-new.
As for the dry container, I plan to use it most frequently to grind flax and occasionally oats. I'd be thrilled to be able to do so in the wet container. Is that possible?
I did not pull the trigger yesterday. This is a large purchase for me and I want the full 7year warrantly, and I want to research even more to make sure I get the best machine for my family's needs.
Thanks for the tip on the FB page and blenderlady, I will check her out as I research!

Just my opinion, but I would order directly from the vitamix site. The warranty is a few years longer and they really stand behind what they sell. I have read that the ones sold on the Q are a bit? lesser quality. You can get some really good deals on the vitamix site under their refurbished models if price is an object, because I know they are expensive. As far as grinding oats in the wet container? I do it all the time. I can't comment on flax seeds though.
