I haven't seen any talk about the Ninja Creami, which is today's special value (12/1).  I'm thinking of getting it but would like to hear from those who have one.  Thanks so much.

@docsgirl

I have a good friend that loves it. She makes protein drinks in it.

First time she tried it she used Costco Kirkland with alcohol tequila mix in it they were delicious.

@docsgirl - I though it was odd too.  I hope @beach-mom is ok.  She usually starts the daily discussion in the TSV forum.

Sorry I can't help you.  I have zero experience with the Creami.  However, that's gonna change.  I ordered two; one for us and one for a gift.

@docsgirl I just sent my daughter the Creami for her birthday on the 25th.

She loves it! They have 3 boys & they have made all sorts of things with the Creami.

The first one I sent broke on the 2nd day (She got it the week before her birthday.), so I sent another & she returned the 1st one.

We love it.  It makes great protein ice cream.  It is wonderful to be able to control the ingredients to be able to cut down on sugar.  I was afraid it would be just another kitchen gadget that wasn't used often.  Istead it is one of the most frequently used items in the kitchen.

@JeanLouiseFinch I don't think she does the TSV posts on Sundays because of church.

I like mine. It's a handy little gadget. I don't use it as much in the winter as the summer, but it's a neat little device and does a good job.

Thank you all for your input.  I'm ordering the mint color.  I know I'll get plenty of use out of it.Smiley Happy  I can't wait to make homemade ice cream with no chemicals.  Thank you, all, again.

The custard-based recipes make the best ice cream, but the frozen custard mixes like those from Frostline are super easy and make an okay treat. I have a bag of the Frostline Soft Serve Ice Cream in chocolate in my cupboard and I mix a half cup of the mix with two cups of milk and freeze it in a container. It takes me maybe two minutes to make it and all I need are the mix and milk.

When I want an indulgent treat I use the recipe from Cook's Illustrated that uses four egg yolks and lots of heavy cream. It's custard based and is the best ice cream I've ever eaten, but it's tedious to make and the calories/fat count would be absurd. I haven't calculated them out but with four egg yolks and a lot of heavy cream and sugar it would not be a lo-cal treat. It's great, but more of a rare indulgence than an everyday type of thing.

One little tip. The Creami blade doesn't reach all the way to the edge of the cups so you typically get a litte iciness at the edges. Running the cup under hot water for a little bit as you rotate it before putting it in the Creami largely eliminates that issue.
