I went yesterday for some goodies to give as gifts. Last year I got the Italian amaretti cookies in a beautiful green tin. They are there this year too...but I bought the chocolate chip panetonne in a white decorated tin to add to my collection (one for me and one for my neighbors).

I tried the cranberry nut New England style cake (an upside down cake). I heated it up for breakfast this cold snowy morning...it was FANTASTIC - not too sweet, lots of cranberries and walnuts.

Finally, another cool present to have on hand...chocolate truffles in a tin..Tartuffi Dolci - made with chocolate, amaretti cookies and hazelnuts. Each one is wrapped separately and they are packed with flavor and texture. Another winner!

My uncle's 95th birthday was last month - I made him a gift basket with the HUGE olives and the artichokes with the long stems. Both are packed in beautiful glass jars. My uncle praised the marinated artichokes so much - I got some of those for home too!

I don't even like the way pannetone tastes...but I love the colorful tins!

Last year Trader Joe's actually sold frozen pannatone french toast. We tried a box and it was good!

I saw one of the Food Network ladies make french toast with it, so I got some.  I didn't know it was so citrus and not in a good way.  I tossed it and haven't gone back.
