I have a Vitamix and love it. My daughter has requested a blender for Christmas. Although I'd love to get her the Vitamix, that won't happen this holiday. Can you give me your thoughts on the Ninja models? I'm sure she'd like the single serve items that are offered with some of the models. Can anyone give me their input on likes/dislikes with their blenders?

I have a Vitamix, after burning out a few blenders in my life. All I can tell you about the Ninja is one of them is as highly rated as the Vitamix by Consumer Reports. That's the 60.00 one. The 100.00 professional comes in very close. There is also a nutri-Ninja on the market, modeled after that bullet thing.

I have the Vitamix at our primary residence and the Ninja Mega Kitchen System at our weekend place. I bought the Ninja because I really wanted power-without the big price. It is as powerful as the Vitamix: people even grind grain in it, no special container needed. It's dishwasher safe, and I find it easier to get contents out. It does come with two single serve vessels, a "blenders" and two prep containers, and it has a dough blade. It's not shoddy...BUT if your DD wants the Vitamix because of its heating abilities, such as for soups and sauces, Cuisinart has a product well worth looking at and worthy of consideration. Make sure the blender U purchase has a blade sharp enough so that U don't have to cut everything up in tiny pieces prior to blending. I have a Kitchen Aid blender, and I have to cut strawberries, bananas up very small or else I have chunks of it in my smoothie.

Vitamix is on my Wish List. The quiet one that they sell for $1000 or so. Yes, wish list

I can't justify spending $400 for a blender. Vitamix may be good but unless you are a professional chef it seems like overkill.

I have this one. by Ninja Ultima blender for making whole fruit and veg smoothies since I couldn't afford the Vitamix right now. Mine was $149 here but the price has gone up here, though they are on special this holiday season in lots of stores.

Also, what is she wanting it for? It it is smoothies, then the Nutribullet or Ninja above will do well for that. If it is for culinary school, then the Vitamix, other than school, the Ninja should do her.

Before investing in a Nutri Bullet, read through the reviews on HSN. I checked them out as a comparison to the Ninja upcoming TSV. After about 20 Scathing ones (there are plenty more than just 20) that convinced me to stick with a Ninja. The Ninja has a much bigger motor too which is an important factor. The Nutri Bullet sure doesn't seem to be worth the risk and the Ninja seems to do a lot more overall. I got an email about the Ninja TSV this morning so am thinking it is tomorrow's Special. If not tomorrow, then certainly any day now.
