@Yahooey You're not alone. I haven't used a toaster in 5 years, which was when I got my first air fryer, which toasted wonderfully.
But in the past year, I've been using my counter French door toaster/convection oven/air fryer. Perfect for all kinds of toast, bagels, etc. Everything I use now must multi-task. I'll never have a separate toaster ever again.

I needed a toaster about a year ago. Tried every price range there was. Not a one toasted right. I settled on a cheapie off brand because it was no worse than the expensive ones.
It still doesn't toast right. One side is dark and the other barely toasted.. If I try to toast two pieces of bread, I have to toast them twice. So disgusted with toasters. I may go on the hunt again.

I bought a Rival brand toaster at Walmart several years ago. It is a four slice but I'm sure they must have two slice toasters too. I would buy another one when this one gives up.

We bought a Black & Decker 4 slice toaster at Walmart not too long ago.
Before that, we used a 2 slice toaster.
I would recommed going there in person to see what they have in stock at the store.
We tried Walmart's store brand of toaster, but it wouldn't toast properly.
It wasn't heating up properly. It would toast one side of your bread, but not the other. We exchanged it for another one, and that toaster did the same thing, too.

We buy the cheapest toaster we can when we need one.
It's been our experience that the expensive ones don't last any longer or much longer than a cheap one.

Cuisinart classic toaster is perfect. It is highly recommended.

For $39.82 you can get an excellent toaster on sale at Amazon: Dash clear view toaster: extra wide slot with stainless steel accents and see through window - Defrost, Reheat + Auto Shut Off Feature for Bagels, Specialty Breads & other Baked Goods.
I previously had an expensive Breville toaster that died and didn't want to take a chance I'd be so lucky to have another like it last 10 years so I bought this Dash and am very very pleased with it in every way. Before buying it i did my homework, reviewing all kinds of toasters at all price points reading reviews until my head spun. The Dash was the best in performance with a good price.

After reading about many different toasters on Walmart and Amazon -- I ordered the Calphalon Toaster from Costco (it's the only one they show on-line.) It's $48 and I should be receiving it by next Friday.
Very mixed reviews.
Toasters were great years ago - just like the electric percolators - since they're all made in China --- they Do Not Work.
I live right near Costco - and if and when it stops working, I'll drive over there and return.
The last 6 years, I've had the Red KitchenAid Retro Toaster. Never toasted evenly - took very long to toast - and now, it's time is up.

When they were made in America - we just bought a toaster or electric percolator - and all the brands were great. Today - they're all JUNK. There should be class-action lawsuits against the manufacturers - while they get rich.
