My waffle maker is sticking-help!

I have had my waffle maker for a few years. It is starting to stick, and I am not sure why, or how to fix it. It is clean, and the "teflon" coating is perfect.

My waffles are ripping apart when I open the lid, and I have to pick the waffles out in chunks.

Any suggestions? thanks in advance!
