I was ADDICTED to the coffee creamers after using for about 45 yrs!
Wow. Well, I learned something new today.
In my entire life, I've never heard of ANYONE claiming to be addicted to coffee creamers.
@Tinkrbl44 I'm sure many on the forums can recall me mentioning this several times (to ad nauseam for some). I'm surprised you missed ALL of my posting about it in many threads over the past several years.
For those that use coffee creamers, I wonder how many actually read the ingredient labels. I know I never bothered until the day DH was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in 2018. That was the day we cleared out our pantry/freezer & fridge. I had to keep a couple types of products because I had to wean myself from them. I was unable to go cold turkey.
Oatmeal was the other one for me. I used to love having a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast a few times a week with walnuts, craisins and brown sugar (toward the end I was using brown sugar Truvia - but still gave me the HUGEW blood sugar spike!). That bowl of oatmeal was NOTHING but sugar...
Oatmeal = sugar
Crasins = sugar
Walnuts = sugar
Sugar or Truvia = sugar
It was a painful fact I had to face.
I haven't had either for several years now. I didn't think I could give them up...until I did.
It was not easy going from using coffee creamers to drinking black coffee. I had a LONG weaning process. On the other hand, I was able to stop smoking cold turkey and I smoked from the time I was 11 til I was 44.
To me, sugar/carb addiction is so much harder to get rid of compared to smoking.
I read all the time online, watch videos of literally countless folks who can't stop having their carbs/sugars.
It is nothing less than a huge accomplishment when anyone can stop their 'DOC' - 'drug of choice'. Certainly nothing to joke about.
The way I see it, it's not really an addiction....it's all about self-control. Some of us have self-control, some of us don't!
I am well aware and know all about reading nutrition labels.. My daughter is a Type 1 diabetic since she's been 17 and she's now 49. She's in excellent health and excellent diabetic control. Not ONE SINGLE diabetic issue in all those years, yet she successfully has protein, carbs, fruits and veggies AND even occasioal treats. So, it CAN be done and still be HEALTHY!
(For those who might not know, Type 1 diabetes is not caused by eating high carbs or sugary foods, and not associated with Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is caused by a virus that attacks the pancreas destroying the insulin producing cells.)

I know of several people that have changed their way of eating and improved their health. I did too!
I eat organic oatmeal most mornings for breakfast. My fasting blood sugar is 80. I gave up red meat and my cholesterol went down. I eat fruits and veggies and lean proteins now. Healthy carbs too. Beans and whole grains.
I have a friend that went to plant based eating to improve her health. Another is now vegan.
Many ways to eat healthy and we are all different. Please be very careful listening to anonymous posters on a shopping forum. Do your own research and consult with a health professional or registered dietitian that is fully aware of your own personal health history.

@Susan Louise . What your saying makes a lot of sense. I for years now have been eating like tnis.
Before morning coffee, 16 oz lemon water. Cold or warm
Coffee, 2 eggs and 1/2 English muffin. Or bowl of cooked oatmeal with blueberries.
Dinner, Meat and roasted vegetables. 16 oz lemon water. Or pasta and vegetables with the 16oz water
Supper, 1/2 sandwich and more water with it or coffee (no milk or sugar)
Different ideas, cheeseburger, meatloaf, cheese and parsley sausage breaded chicken cutlets. I make myself. I cook my meals.
Veg is either fresh or frozen. No canned. Too much salt.
In a blender, take two different fruits and 16 oz of water blend and drink up.
And yes, I do go out to eat with friends and sister 2x A month or more. I eat what I want.
I weigh 129lbs and my diabetes is under control when I go to docs every 3 months for check up. I am 70 years old
Hope this helps

That's really good for you. I'm glad you found your way to better heath.
I'm also really into health and eating well.
I know you've said a couple of times that fiber is universally bad for everybody and that's just not the case. I know this is a big thing for carnivores, they like to say this.
It's true, if you have a condition such as IBS, IBD or allergies too much fiber can trigger symptoms but for the vast majority of people fiber is good and the problem isn't that we are consuming it the issue is that we aren't consuming enough of it.
Some of the benefits of Fiber are:
*Helps lipid profile, lowers LDL levels
*reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease
*helps regulate blood glucose levels
*good for gut microbium
*helps with constipation
*Helps with weight management
Maybe if you feel better eating carnivore and no fiber it's because you personally have widespread allergies or sensitivities and just the fact that you have such a limited diet you aren't being exposed to them and thus feel better. As far as weight loss, any diet so limited will cause weight loss. I can't imagine having much of an appetite for just meat (and the few other things carnivores eat).
I personally have genetically high cholesterol (I know carnivores don't think that matters) and LDL, Apob, LPa (not uncommon).
These smaller more atherogenic particle sizes put me at a higher risk for atherosclerosis and related diseases, such as coronary heart disease and stroke.
So I need to tamp down my LDL as much as possible and I've been able to do it a lot with the addition of more fiber.
This is important because heart disease is the biggest killer, I think a lot of it is because of inflammation from being metabolically unhealthy (eating too much sugar and simple carbs) but the addition of too much saturated fat isn't good either.
I fear that because heart disease takes decades to show up and form that a lot of you carnivores are going to regret your choices of lots of butter and high fat meats years from now. I hope not.
I think the best diet is a diet based on whole foods, including fiber with limited simple carbs and sugar......
*Look at the blue zones....they eat complex carbs

I eat oatmeal every single morning, with fresh fruit and non fat milk. Been doing that for years. I'm 76 and my bloodwork is great, always has been, never been overweight in my life. I'm sorry that YOU can't eat oatmeal or other healthy foods, but that doesn't automatically apply to everyone else. The way I eat has brought me to 76 in great shape, not interested in any changes at this late date.

@Fribwl I think I could easily follow your plan, although I do like yogurt with berries for breakfast.
