There is no Kenmore factory out there churning out Kenmore appliances. They're made by other companies like Whirlpool, Samsung, Amana, etc. Those first three numbers on the tag identifies the maker.
Thanks for the info. I just assumed all Kenmores were made by Whirlpool. Turns out my 17 year old dishwasher that quit working was made by GE.

There's a long, long list of companies that make appliances under the Kenmore label, including some companies I've never heard of. Knowing the information can make you a better shopper however as it frees you up to compare prices on a level playing field. If you know the refrigerator you're looking at is made by Whirlpool then you can compare the Whirlpool version and the Kenmore version and opt for the one with the best price knowing you're still getting the same appiliance. It's good information to have.

I have had my new dishwasher for a couple weeks now and am really pleased. It is a lot quieter than the one it replaced. Gets the dishes clean and no water spots. It's just a basic unit. My thought process is the more bells and whistles an applicance has, then the more that could go wrong with them. If anyone is considering one I got it from Lowes and it's Whirlpool brand-- model WDF320PADB. Was on sale for under 300.00

Quiet is a great quality in a dishwasher!
I don't know the age of ours, as it was in the house when we bought it, going on 16 years ago. I keep hoping to not have to replace it. But I only run it once every couple of weeks, so maybe that has contributed to it lasting well.
Ours is a Kenmore Elite - something or other - but it has the old plastic interior. I'd love one with a stainless steel interior but not willing to pay the money to replace something that works well. It is nice and quiet and that is one of the things I would look for if I had to replace it.

My Kenmore Elite dishwasher is 14 years old with never a service call on it. I keep thinking it's going to stop working any day now but, maybe it's good for another 3 or 4 years if I'm as lucky as the OP. I sure hope so.

I've had such problems with various dishwashers, stove, refrigerators, : leakings, burners playing games, shelves breaking, etc., I finally went with Bosch, LOVE THEM!
Their dishwashers do not have a lower heating coil so you can put plastic, wooden items, on lower rack, they are sealed- NO LEAKS! A biggy for me;
quiet, stainless steel inside, and last.
Bosch does have a setup showing how to place items in racks to use the most space, I followed that for awhile, now I just put in where it works for me and I do get quite a bit inside, even large 8qt pots and tons of lock & lock ![]()
It seems appliances only last 5 yrs, seriously, my parents' would last 20+.
I got tired of buying large appliances 5-7yrs and substandard at that. I'd be willing to pay more $ uprfront for something to last 10-15 yrs, but thats where the companies get you, pay frequently, over and over.
My appliances are white, which I love. Stainless was ok, but geez, the fingerprints with constant cleaning.
FYI- I usually go to Lowes, Home Depot or Bestbuy. I talk to the manager and ask if I can get a discount- usually they'll go ahead and give their 20% discount, then I ask for them to google the brand and model I want- having already done this before I enter the store- I'm able to show them the stores which have it, even the stores they don't promote matching, they will go ahead and match non-competeing stores like Amazon, etc.

Mom & Dad bought brand new Frigidaire refriderator when they married 12/23/1960. Five years later my Grandmother got the fridge due to their divorce and it went into her store room in the garage to hold all our sodas and holiday extra food ect... When we had to move Mam-Ma out of her home at the age 94 in 2010 the fridge was still in the store room and still working fine. More rust than the color white on the outside but it was well worth whatever was paid for it. It is amazing sometimes how things can last.
