I own the Vitamix GC (K36187) that I purchased from QVC in January 2012. I use my VitaMix nearly everyday to make healthy smoothies. Not even just a few days ago, I posted a thread about how I made delicious potato soup in it.

I invited my Mom over so she could try the baked potato soup. We even bought frozen fruit to make smoothies later to have a fun evening. Cooked all the potatoes, poured the milk in, turned it on, increased the speed slowly - when suddenly it made a really unusual grinding sound (not the usual Vitamix growl) and it just dies! {#emotions_dlg.scared}

I tried a different outlet. Still dead. I turned it off for a little while and I hear a faint "click" inside the machine. I tried turning it on again - it powered back on, but it still didn't sound right. Died on speed 5.

I know they stand behind their products but I'm just really upset that this happened. I still love the machine and I will be contacting Vitamix about how to get a repair or replacement but I'm just still left baffled about why it just suddenly died.

I also just read about the "Automatic Overload Protection" in the manual - but I don't know how it could have overheated on soft potatoes. I have the Vitamix unplugged on its side right now with a fan blowing into it to see if it cools off and will power on in 45 minutes as directed. Fingers crossed...

If not, I hope the turnaround time is quick because I will be missing it. {#emotions_dlg.crying}
