Can you put ceramic inserts in the 6 quart instant pot for slow cooking?

@dimin --I haven't seen one and I just checked. It has a slow cook button/cycle and I think I tried it but am not sure. The reason for a pressure cooker is to cook fast. You can slow cook in it but need the right type of lid and  the instant pot insert is thin metal so it heats up faster--times would have to be adjusted. I would never give up my crock pot to slow cook---the ceramic insert I got is not like the slow cookers thick stoneware type of insert, it is metal with a ceramic nonstick, which is the type that is in my pots/skillets

I have a large white and black Ninja Foodi that looks like a storm trooper ha!

..probably the same one I have--15 qt. pressure cooker with attached lid for grilling/roasting. It reminds me of the depiction in science fiction stories of the contraptions used for cyber freezing(?) heads --waiting for cures in the future.

I do use it for grilling bar-b-qued drumsticks etc. DH loves the big cookie recipe that came in recipe book. The thing (pot) is super heavy though.

@wagirl  I have the 3 qt. Instant Pot (not the star wars one ). In a family of 2 I use it a lot. I love the Stainless Steel inner pot. I wish Ninjas had that.

@Razzy 7 you are so right about Jeffrey of Pressure Luck, his videos on YouTube are excellent and his books are easy to follow.

Two others I enjoy are Lisa Childs of Tried, Tested and True and Stephanie of 365 Days of Slow Cooking and Instant Pot

Lizzie, I agree. I've recently discovered another pressure cooking blogger whose recipes and YouTube videos I like: A Mind"Full" Mom. And a favorite I've enjoyed for several years is Barbara Schieving's Pressure Cooking Today.

Using the sink would not be a problem unless you turned on the water. Many sinks (like mine) are double sinks. If I needed to do what I'm suggesting, I'd move the faucet so it was over the sink without the Instant Pot in case the faucet was accidentally turned on - which, since I'm the only one in my place, wouldn't happen. I'm trying to help the poster with a problem she's having. It would work. She could also, do as I suggest and purchase a step stool.

I've been using pressure cookers for a long time too, wagirl. My mom had a Presto stovetop pressure cooker when I was a kid and she made some delicious dishes. Then when I wanted to start pressure cooking, I first purchased two B/R/K stovetop pressure cookers as recommended by The Veggie Queen, Jill Nussinow. I believe that was a German brand and I don't know if they're still available for purchase. The B/R/K's were excellent but I just placed them in a Rummage Sale at my church.

Next I purchased my first Instant Pot electric pressure cooker and it has changed my life and my cooking. How so? Well whenever I want to cook something, I use Google and do an Internet search for the name of the recipe and the word "pressure." Usually I find at least several recipes, check them out and make the one that sounds most appealing to me. I've never gone wrong and have made some delicious dishes. In addition I have purchased many, many pressure cooking cookbooks I use and look at the websites of a number of pressure cooking bloggers. In addition to their recipes, the websites of these bloggers also have much additonal, helpful information. I've also found these bloggers to be very responsive to any questions I've had. Many bloggers have pressure cooking recipes on YouTube and I enjoy watching those as well.

I've had several Instant Pot models and now use and love the Instant Pot Pro. I own both a 3-quart and a 6-quart but use the 6-quart most often. If one can afford it, the Instant Pot Pro is the model I recommend. While most, if not all, of the Instant Pot models have a slow cook setting, I've never chosen to use it and likely never will. When I purchased my first Instant Pot, I gave my slow cooker to Goodwill.

@Razzy 7 ----I do the very same thing---I've had 3 IPs --and had 2 others from QVC that were early models of the electric pressure cooker era and one I bought from JCP--but I put the lid on it and somehow it locked in place and I NEVER was able to unlock it!! Geez--it still had the cord inside and prob a rack---it was brand new out of the box the day I did that!! Whenever I need a recipe for something, can always find one online. Have been recently looking at YouTube for the same things you do. But still have my crock pot--somethings just need a crock pot---maybe its more for the amazing smells that comes from cooking something for hours. Woman Happy
