I like honey crisps that I get a great deal on at Sam's. You could use a mix of apples but with the sweets going onto the apples, granny smith, a tart apple, would be a great contrast.

I gave two QVC food gifts for Christmas last year (not Prindables). Never heard a word that they enjoyed the item. No more food gifts on my shopping list.

I treat myself to a Mrs Prindables when I go to the studio- they've been delish each time!! I'm wary about buying food via delivery, you never know what weather conditions the package traveled through, how long it sat here or there, etc to get to your home..

You go to the QVC studio? Do you work there?

They probably are good there because they want people to see the fresh products on the air. Not the stale hard ones that have been laying around to mail out.

No- but I visit maybe once or twice a year for live shows. Mrs Prindables are great when you're certain they're super FRESH!!

Yes, the ones distributed at studio shows were probably made by Lori just that morning. Smile

I buy them at the studio store- I never went to a Mrs Prindables show. But I'm certain they were the best of the bunch to encourage future purchases!

I agree with the Pink Lady apple. It's crisp and hard but it's sweet. I don't use Granny Smith for anything anymore. They seem dry and bitter to me.

If I were making my own luxury caramel apples, I might start with the Krafts recipe where you melt Kraft caramels, and dip the apple. Then I'd melt down good quality white and dark chocolate and drizzle them. I'd decorate with jimmies or whatever (I can't do nuts.) Or I'd leave the nonpareils or jimmies off entirely (though red and green on a white chocolate apple is very pretty for gifting.)
