Re: Mini Turkey Dinner This Week 1/19/24

I will thaw a turkey breast in water tonight and cook for dinner tomorrow.  Already have enough old bread saved to make dressing too.

@RedTop

Good plan.

I have some frozen stuffing from Thanksgiving which will be the only starch since this isn't holiday and my caboose can do without.

I think I'll roast yellow squash and broccoli or Brussels sprouts.   DH prefers mixed vegetables, I don't.

I do have cranberry sauce and some frozen gravy which I'll thin with chicken stock.

@wagirl You tell "Dumb" brother how smart he is!  That means more for US if they don't eat lamb!!!!!  Used to go to Fogo in Dallas with friends and two of us ate nothing but lamb chops. He with mint jelly; me, a purist, with salt alone!  Then we'd go to Northpark Mall to try to walk some of it off!  Woman LOL

@ECBG

My husband was not in the least excited about a turkey dinner, so the breast is still in the freezer.  ☹️

Do your thing one evening and let him do his.

DH will sometimes say he had a late lunch and wants beans, onions, tomatoes, and cornbread or breakfast.

I will eat tomatoes many ways, dried beans, I hate with a passion! Breakfast doesn't stick with me; I consider it a.m. food only.

Sometimes he wants chili again.  I'm done.

On a night like those,we agree to do our own thing or he wants to get out of grilling since I no longer fry.

@drizzellla   @ECBG   I like cranberry dressing....my husband does not.  Even if I 1/2 my recipe it is still a lot.  Do you purchase cranberry salad premade or make a home made recipe for a small family meal?

@Mom2Dogs Dh

DH and the rest if the group like the whole berry my Ocean Spray.  I think we hold on to what we've always had.  I don't want the orange the relish has.  I think with holiday meals, our emotional "self" holds on to when we were happy in younger years.

DS wants the meals from his younger years.  Our grand sons are exactly the same.

They will come here as long as I can do it or direct.

@ECBG

I cannot imagine hating beans; my family of 4 eats a lot of them, and both daughters boyfriends love taking beans home with them.
