Took a look at it online. I have other appliances that would do the same tasks as the MT cooker, so I don't need it. That's not to say I won't change my mind someday down the road. LOL I noticed that the Ming cooker is made by Aroma. I'd be interested in reading about people's experiences with it. Good luck and enjoy, those of you who order this little appliance!

I have the Aroma ARC-526 which also has the "Saute-then-Simmer" feature.  I think this is the forerunner to the Ming Tsai cooker.  My Aroma cooker was only $50 at Walmart.  How HSN has put a regular price of $179.95 on theirs is beyond belief.

I just ordered what they call copper.  I hope it's more brown than copper.  What made me buy it, is the fact that it is not heavy and that it is only 1/5 qt.  Just enough for 1-3 people.

Did anyone else order it also?

@CLEM Yes, I ordered it. Same color as you. I almost went back and cancelled. Do I really need another kitchen appliance?  Lol. But I said what the heck, I can send it back I guess. I do like the size. Hopefully we will be happy!!

@Reba055 Well, for some reason I found it hard to go to sleep last night so I had time to think about this purchase.  I decided that I really don't need it so I canceled it.  I can do all these things  in my pressure cooker.  Perhaps some other time.  I always think I need every new kitchen gadget.  But I hope you like it and let us know how it is.

@CLEM Me too. I thought about my pressure cooker too but it's huge. So maybe I will use this one!

I received mine in the silver/light grey yesterday, and made some white Jasmine rice for lunch. Wow.  I am speechless. This was the best rice I have ever had.  This is my first rice cooker ( other than the Lorena Garci skinny mini, which is fine for small portions), and I don't have a pressure cooker.  I had been casually looking for larger rice cookers with fuzzy technology ( like the zojirushi) for the last month, when this one happend to be a TSV. This one may not be any better than ones you already have, but it you don't have one, it works!  I can't wait to try other recipes.  There are separate, detailed instructions based on how you are using it ( for rice, for steaming, for rice and steaming, for sautee and simmer, etc.), which is good because I am new to this type of cooking.

The oatmeal came out perfectly, made a batch of quinoa which was also perfectly cooked.  Im going to try the sautee function tomorrow with the frittata recipe.  This cooker is very quiet and lightweight, would be perfect for boating or camping imo.
