Metal or glass pie dish

I was thinking of purchasing one but don't really know if one is strictly for baking sweets only. I have made apple pies and chicken pot pies and usually buy the frozen deep dish pie crust. Of course I would still need to buy the frozen pie crust - any thoughts? TIA
