I bought the Vortex oven because it is square.  I can fit more stuff in there than the air fryer I own.  So I just read the meat in the air fryer thread and am wondering - This Vortex has a bake and air fry function.  Which would I use for meat like steak and pork chops?

@depglass

You might see if @wagirl can give you specifics on how she cooks her steak in the air fryer. I did not have good luck when I tried cooking steaks/chops so I will also be curious as to any specifics. Like temp and time...yadda yadda.

Re: Meat in Vortex

[ Edited ]

@depglass   I have had this oven for a couple of years and love it.  For steaks I use the broil function and put the tray on the top shelf. Takes only a few minutes depending on how you like your steaks.  For pork chops, chicken and any other meat dish, I use the air fry function and mostly use the middle tray position.

There are many Facebook pages for the Vortex that I use. One is Instant Vortex Tips and Recipes and Instant Vortex Recipe Collections.  You can search either page to get your questions answered.

ETA: You need to find a silicone pad to put on the oven door when you open it to prevent grease or any liquids from dripping on everything. I got mine from Amazon.

@depglass    Does it have a broil function?  That's what I'd use for steaks.  I'd bake pork chops.

@depglass ---Hi!  I used air fry. I have  a bake button on mine too. I have a square airfryer and mostly use the air fry option for meats. One important thing--I put my meat on the counter and let it warm up as well as blot the surface dry with paper towels before I cook them. Otherwise they just steam and not roast.
