According to his Instagram posts, he wears a hat 99% of the time in his private life out & about as well   So I believe we can conclude that he likes wearing hats.  Mystery solved.

@walkingal--- or at your dinner table or mine.  I'm not shy as I've told my nephews to remove hats at my dinner table.  Same with the blasted cell phones.  Can't stand those things.

I was watching a show some years ago and heard Mark Charles say his grandmother was French. Maybe he has "French" sort of style (?). ;
