Looking to purchase a toaster oven, need input

I had one back in the nineties but can't remember the brand. I love them because I can bake a chicken breast or pork chop without turning on the oven. It was also great for broiling a small steak. I have been looking on line but all I am doing is confusing myself. If anyone can recommend a nice one that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars I would be grateful.

Re: Looking to purchase a toaster oven, need input

I love mine. I've had it for years too. Mine is a Black & Decker. Not sure if they even make them anymore. It's still going strong. I use it to bake potatoes, garlic bread, and love to broil tuna salad on toast with tomatoes and cheese on top (I love to just broil it so the cheese gets a bit brown on top). It saves me from lighting the oven some days so I don't use up as much electricity and doesn't heat up the kitchen in the summer months.

I also use it for appetizers like egg rolls or pizza rounds. I swear mine has been through a lot of cooking, but it's still working well after all these years. I have seen toaster ovens advertised in the Sunday paper for under $50 at Target or Walmart.

Get a countertop oven instead. More versatile.

I love my Breville counter-top oven that I bought at BB&B for about $200. I chose that brand because I read so many great reviews on this forum.

Breville are usually the best but they are over two hundred. I rely on America's Test Kitchen, which I subscribe to. While they like the Breville, too, they list a Hamilton Beach as a best buy and it's under 90. I would not personally spend over two hundred for a toaster oven. So guess which one I'm going for, when my toaster dies?

Re: Looking to purchase a toaster oven, need input

I got a convection toaster oven similar to this FarberWare at WalMart and liked it so much I got a second one for our camper. It was important to me to find one large enough to hold a 9x13. I only use my big oven now on holidays and use my countertop oven at least 4 times a week if not more. I believe I paid $49 or $59 for mine 3 yrs ago and can't find the exact model anymore to show you. If it died, I'd go right to WalMart and buy another one for about $50.

ETA to correct -- mine is a Hamilton Beach similar to this Farberware one.

I bought this Panasonic, which was highly rated by Consumer Reports: http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NB-G110P-Xpress-Toaster-Silver/dp/B008C9UFDI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=...

Cost is $127 now, but think I bought it for $99. Have been pleased with it. It's been years since I had one. One great thing is the ease of cleaning it. The bottom is a crumb tray that slides out, and the baking tray is removable also.

I bought an Oster from Target that was under $80. It fits beautifully on my counter under the cabinets and is an easy to clean stainless steel on the outside. It performs great.

My Cuisinart Toaster Convection oven has been going strong for over 12 years and I use it almost on a daily basis. It's not one of the cheapest, but is definitely one of the best, IMO. If something happened to it, I'd run right out and by another.
