My Lock n Lock contaner shows the number 7 in the triangle on the back of the container.  Research shows to stay way from the items with the number 7.  The ad for the container states "BPA free" and presentations on QVC state they are BPA free . Are these safe to use for food?

I doubt QVC or L-n-L would want to risk a lawsuit by giving false information.

Okay, I'll play. Just checked several different LocknLock containers and they all have the number five in the triangle. Maybe you would like to give the QVC item number of the set you have showing the number seven...that would be helpful.

@jtsd

I just checked 5 different shapes and sizes.  They all have a 5 in the triangle.  Which L&L piece are you looking at? (item number)

Could this be the recycling code? I know that a '5' is not recyclable in all places ( here we can only recycle 1 and 2).

So maybe it has more to do with a recycling code than a safety/chemical identification?
