Call that Lock and Lock lady with the red hair who dresses like a chef of Lock and lock... she seems to tell everyone that this product is so great. Hmmm....

Is Chris really a chef or does she just dress like one? I don't think she does any kitchen / cooking presentations beside LnL.

She actually is a chef. The only other stuff I've seen her demo on QVC, besides L&L, has been gadgety stuff like that apple peeler thing.

I'm very careful to not put things in my car/trunk without a plastic bag of some kind around it. Spilled some milk and took forever to get the smell out.

I think it is very different to demonstrate product leakage by a brief shaking, or a quick turn upside down, compared to a product with warm contents getting tipped over, and staying that way in a moving car. I always transport my containers on a towel, in a box, as I trust no reviews when it means I might have to clean up a mess in my vehicle.

I've never had this happen, but I do notice a lack of "odor control." I've been washing these items on the top shelf of the dishwasher for years. Lately when I open the frig I can get hit in the face with a blast of garlic spaghetti sauce, pizza, or whatever I have stored in Lock & Locks. So this problem is my own fault.

Are you saying that you think you shouldn't have put them in the dishwasher? I've always washed mine in the dishwasher and have had zero odor problems. Maybe check the seals on yours?

I've also never had any of my L&L containers leak, and I have dropped several. I've also never had one warp in the dishwasher; of course, I do put mine only on the top rack.

As for the "Lock and Lock lady with the red hair who dresses like a chef of Lock and lock... she seems to tell everyone that this product is so great. Hmmm....," well, yeah, it is her job to tell us that the product is great, which it is.

I think she does a good job presenting.

I agree with all of this!

I'm not sure what happened with yours, house cat, but, like so many others, I have never had a problem with my lock and locks. I wash them by hand just because my dishwasher does a lousy job with plastic. I got tired of them taking up space in the dishwasher when I had to hand-wash afterwards anyway. Like someone suggested, maybe put in a box in your trunk or, if you have room, on the floor of the back seat.

I hope this one accident doesn't discourage you from ever using them again. They are terrific and usually very reliable. Did you call Customer Service to see if you could get a replacement? It's worth a try. Good luck!

"Warped" L&L is easy to fix- fill with water, give it a few SECONDS in the micro, just until the water gets warmish-hottish, and it will find its original shape.

{#emotions_dlg.sneaky} I'm done with Lock & Lock. Got my first piece years ago and it accidentally got put in the dishwasher (still don't know who did it, kids and DH would not 'fess up) and it was warped and lid wouldn't fit anymore. It's almost like it shrunk.

Heck with that, I don't need something in the kitchen I have to baby and that doesn't perform for me. I need something that does what I need it to do and that can be thrown in the dishwasher. I also don't want or need anything that the lid leaks. That would just make me mad.

So I won't ever buy more Lock & Lock. Things like that, they get one chance with me. I don't have time for stuff that doesn't perform.

You're supposed to be able to use the dishwasher- I do sometimes, sometimes not because my dishwasher leaves plastic cloudy.

Re: leaking I haven't had this issue. I think it must be an issue with the seals.

Lemi-Shine should solve the "cloudy" problem. I always add a little bit along with my detergent pac. It keeps glass items looking good as well as keeping the SS interior of the dishwasher spotless.
