Lock in lock lid breaks on fall from counter

I knew this could happen because it had happened with a square container. But the container was a multiple in one of those large sets so i didnt really care because i had extras. This time it is a slimline canister with the pour lid. It fell off the counter landed on a corner I guess, and the plastic surrounding the silicone gasket cracked right off. Does anyone have an idea whether the warranty covers this breakage?
