I have plenty of them, maybe 12 -15 but I live by the guy rules....Gotta start rotating them...Same rules apply for sheets and towels...the one where you question the folding thing when you can just wash them and reuse them without that folding hassle! My mother would definitely smack me in the back of the head for this post!

Oh, hey, I totally get the fitted sheet thing! I tend to just buy several sets of the exact same sheets I like best and I remove, wash, and put the one set back on for as long as I can.
Since I buy pretty good quality cotton sheets, they last a while. I've watched videos and read bits on how to fold those fitted sheets and it just never seemed to work out like they say. Having arthritis probably doesn't help, so I end up giving up and just shoving them in somewhere,
BTW, there is thread about folding fitted sheets somewhere on this board that has a pretty hilarious piece posted in it. I just happened to see it again this morning.

This is for you, Tbear -
(it's not mine. Faeriemoon gets credit for this)

You have hundreds of Lock and Lock. Really? I'm curious, what do you do with "hundreds" of L&L? I have quite a few, but nowhere near even one hundred let alone hundreds.

I had bought the L&L for eggs and I had mold growing on the egg shells.

It's from moisture. I pull out the rubbery seal gasket and clean it.

I just noticed the same thing on 2 of my glass bowl lids, took the gasket out because I saw black and it is mold, for sure.......I cleaned it up with clorox spray cleaner, now I am afraid to use them......always sent soup and leftovers to work for my hubby, now I am not comfortable using them for anything, think I will throw out. The people that are saying you aren't seeing mold don't look close enough, because it is mold......just wanted to let you know you weren't the only one.

Keep using them. Just clean and dry them properly. Nobody is saying that it's impossible that there could be mold in there. People are saying that many of us aren't seeing it because 1) we live in arid climates and mold isn't as prevalent; and 2) when we see any moisture in the o-ring we take it out and dry it completely so that mold doesn't grow.
My reference, back when this thread was new, was that it would not be what is known as 'black mold' because that's an entirely different animal. Mold - sure, if you leave moisture in there and let it cultivate. Black mold - not unless you insert it into your walls and there is 'black mold' growing there. ![]()

I also always take out the silicone strip, wash and rinse it and the track, put it back in, dry the whole thing, let it sit out all night with the lid off, then store it with the lid off. I've only had mold problems when food is stored in the frigerator for long periods of time with moisture held inside the container (i.e. juice pitcher, butter dish, egg carton...) , but usually don't have any problems at all .

I have had problems with the ones I use a lot but I take the seal out and wash it, then I take an unusued Q-tip to the inside of the lid to dry and remove any food or crud that could possibly be there. I allow both pieces to dry and put the seal back in. I have not had any problems. I have lots of lock and lock!
