Le Creuset items: still overpriced

Today's on-line Le Creuset items are still more expensive than @ retail stores ( Macy's, etc.). I'm waiting to see if David Venable talks about what a "great value" on them on today's "In The Kitchen With David" presentation.

There are only two reasons why people buy LC at QVC -- Easy Pay or unwillingness to comparison shop.

I'm always suspicious when they offer the extras, like the spatula and cook book. Why can't they leave out those unnecessary items and make it a better value?

Re: Le Creuset items: still overpriced

I wonder why the OP keeps starting a new thread for this.

Also, for $294 it's not a bad deal at all. when you add the cost of a 5.25qt vessel/lid to the cookbook and utensil it's a fine deal.

The only thing is that it is an older version. The 'signature' line has been out for a while now. But I think the only difference is the knob on the lid that was upgraded. You can buy the upgraded knob, or a stainless steel one, for a pittance.

It's simply QVC. Why do people buy? Because they want it. The prices they have on most electronics are outrageous. People buy for a lot of reasons--not always price related.

But, it is a wonderful pot and would be a lifetime investment if you take proper care. AND, I'll say the little book is wonderful if you read it and follow the instructions it gives for cooking and how to fill your pot.

I have a Le Creuset and like it, but there are so many other brands that work just as well.

Are they really non-stick? What kind of special treatment do they require?

I have several Le Creuset pieces, but like my Lodge pieces too! Cost a fraction of the French import - can be found @ Walmart, Target, Fred Meyer here in the PNW!
